(01) Brief

The products had users. The studio had no face.

Ruthless WP began as a single 90-line plugin and grew into an independent studio shipping tools for the WordPress ecosystem: Liza, a Spotify widget with more than a thousand active installs, and Sven, a free macOS SVN client. The products had users; the studio had no face.

The brief was a home that could hold a plugin, a desktop app and a blog under one identity, and read as a studio rather than a plugin shop.

(02) Approach

A manifesto, not a feature grid.

Most plugin sites are feature grids with a buy button. We wrote a manifesto instead and put it first: what the studio builds, why it open-sourced Sven, and what it refuses to ship. Each product gets a short introduction and a live demonstration — Liza is shown with an actual Spotify embed rather than a screenshot. Testimonials are pulled from real WordPress.org reviews, named and unedited.

The blog is aimed at a specific reader, independent artists and podcasters, with practical guides on embeds, performance and workflow, so the studio earns search traffic in the niche its products serve. The name is the tone: short sentences, hard stops, no filler.

(03) Build

Structured for performance.

A WordPress site on Elementor with dedicated product pages for Liza and Sven, an editorial blog with category filtering, contact and support routing, and links through to WordPress.org listings. Legal policies written to cover both products. Structured for performance, which on a site called Ruthless is not optional.
