(01) Brief
A cause with no place to hold it.
Georgian Liberty is a non-governmental organisation founded in September 2021 by two teenagers to raise awareness of Georgia's occupied territories, Abkhazia and Samachablo, at home and abroad. It had a cause and a growing archive of interviews, but no place to hold them.
The brief was a bilingual site that could carry two centuries of history to a reader with no background, and turn attention into volunteers.
(02) Approach
Built around a single timeline.
We built the site around a single timeline. Six dates — 1801, 1918, 1921, 1989, 1992, 2008 — each with its own page, so a reader arriving from anywhere in the world can follow how annexation, independence, invasion and war led to the present. Abkhazia and Samachablo each have a dedicated section rather than a paragraph.
A National Heroes gallery gives the cause faces and names. Interviews are embedded directly from the organisation's YouTube channel so the site stays current without a redesign. The tone is sober and direct; the subject does not need amplifying.

(03) Build
Designed to grow with the archive.
A Next.js site with a language gate on entry and full Georgian and English routing. Timeline slider on the home page, individual event pages, Abkhazia and Samachablo sections, About, Contact and a Volunteer form, with optimised imagery throughout and links to the organisation's Facebook, Instagram and YouTube channels. Designed to be extended as the archive grows.
